NOTES for Deu 12:1-32

The Lord gives His people commandments that will help them remain faithful to the Covenant and avoid falling into paganism. Chief among them are the commandment concerning a single sanctuary and the prohibition against eating blood (apparently, consuming animal blood formed part of the pagan cults of Palestine; moreover, blood is a symbol of life, which belongs to God alone). Faithfulness to God is the first step on the path that leads us to become children of the Most High. In this connection, it is important to consider how our faithfulness to Him is manifested. In outward forms? In inner dispositions? In keeping the commandments? In loving our enemies?
