As any aphorism, this short sentence is very profound. What is "the soul which is lifted up", to what brings the haughtiness of man? Maybe, haughtiness is a very stiff form of the pride (there are thin forms), when man isolates himself inside from everything else in the world, considering himself" superior to all that". How can such a soul calm down? Only if it is persuaded that everything is like that and that all is indeed inferior to it {soul} and that it "cannot be reached". But indeed, in the reality it does not happen like that. In the first place, we all live in the world, which "reaches" us at every second, there is no practical possibility to be closed from the world into "the ivory tower". And secondly, there is a God, that we want or not, and He is greater than us, and all the human claims on domination, all the attempts to satisfy our haughtiness - are hopeless. That is why any collision with the real world and with God deprives the one who is lifted up from rest.

Now let’s speak about the just. Just is the one who does everything correctly in life, according to God's law (let’s suppose that there are such people). But indeed, and even such a person is affected by the waves of everyday life evil, and he perceives very acutely the injustice of that (see the Book of Job). Any misfortune in his life is an undeserved punishment that hurts the heart and deprives life of sense. And only faith can bring the original and the sense of light in such a life, faith in God's kindness, faith in the fact that the misfortunes have nothing common with the punishment, and that the suffering is a place of special meeting with the One, Who accepted suffering and death for our sins.
